David Nicol IT Services Consultant

David Nicol serves on the Board of Evolving Systems (Nasdaq), a software provider to communications services providers worldwide. He also serves on several advisory boards and is currently a consultant in the IT services industry.

From 2006-20088, he was EVP/CFO for Solutionary in Omaha, a managed IT security services provider, where he helped close two acquisitions and related funding.

From 2004-2005, Nicol was Advisor (effectively interim CEO) for Sipera Systems in Dallas, a start-up developing security software for VoIP/Unified Communications infrastructure, which he helped launch and raise “A round” venture capital.

Through 2003, he served as Senior Vice President, Product Management and Development for VeriSign Communications Services (Nasdaq), following its acquisition of Illuminet in 2001. He held the same position at Illuminet for the five years prior to acquisition and was on the team that took the company public in 1999.

Prior to Illuminet, Nicol was Vice President of Business Development for ITN (1994-95), COO for International Micronet Systems (1992-93) and COO/Partner for iLAN, Inc. (1990-92).

During 1984 through 1990, Nicol held various officer positions with United Telecom/Sprint Corporation. Most recently, he served as Corporate Vice President Planning.

Nicol holds a BSc from The Ohio State University, an MA from Case Institute of Technology and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University.
