Jason Tatge wins 2009 "Innovator of the Year"
Jason Tatge, Farms Technology, Overland Park, was announced as the “Innovator of the Year” this evening at PIPELINE’s signature event where Kansas legislators, regional and national entrepreneurs, policy and innovation leaders converged. The PIPELINE “Innovator of the Year” event is the capstone of the nation’s first statewide technology entrepreneur fellowship programs.
Michael Beckloff Named Top 100 Life Science Leaders in America
KTEC PIPELINE announced today that its board chairman, Michael Beckloff (President of Beckloff Associates, Overland Park) has been named as one of the top 100 life science leaders in the nation. Beckloff serves as chair of KansasBio, and as a member of many charitable organizations related to the life sciences. Established five years ago by PharmaVOICE magazine, the PharmaVOICE 100 is an annual list of individuals recognized for their positive contributions to the life sciences industry.
KTEC PIPELINE Announces National Advisory Board
KTEC PIPELINE has announced its National Advisory Board, which will work with PIPELINE to provide counsel and networks to the program leadership as the PIPELINE continues to gain national attention as a model program to foster high-growth entrepreneurs. The Advisory Board is comprised of national thought leaders in entrepreneurship, investment, technology and policy. They will work to extend the network and reach of the program, provide best practices from around the nation - and work with entrepreneurs, mentors and leadership on how to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kansas.
Kansas Ranks First in Nation for High-Tech Industry Job Growth
Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation (KTEC) announced today that Kansas ranks No. 1 nationally in high-tech industry job growth. According to the recently released 2009 Cyberstates Report published by TechAmerica, Kansas high-tech companies added jobs at a rate of 8.1 percent during the most recently reported period of 2007. Additionally Kansas high-tech companies paid their workers 91% more than the state’s average wage during that period.

This evening at its premiere awards event, the KTEC PIPELINE announced Olga Koper, NanoScale Corporation, Manhattan, Kan., as the KTEC PIPELINE “Innovator of the Year.” The “Innovator of the Year” was chosen after a competition that included a refined business plan, a pitch to an expert panel and a score carried over from performance during the technology fellowship year.

The KTEC PIPELINE will cap off its inaugural year with an “Innovator of the Year” event on January 24, 2008. At this event, regional and national innovation and capital leaders will convene to determine the KTEC PIPELINE “Innovator of the Year” – a competition among the Charter Class (2007) - and then announce the 2008 class.
KTEC PIPELINE Extends Application Deadline; Sets Early Consideration Date
To recognize the importance of the Kansas Day of Innovation in Wichita, Kan. on September 6 and the attention that Kansas’ innovative programs will receive during this day, the KTEC PIPELINE Entrepreneurial Fellowship program has extended its application deadline for its 2008 class of Innovators until September 10, 2007. The extended deadline will capture any entrepreneurs who may still learn about the program during the statewide day of innovation.
